Great tour led by Kees - plenty of delicious food, interwoven with the history of Amsterdam throughout. We were not left hungry!

Had a wonderful tour with Kees, would highly recommend! We got to try various local Dutch specialties and they were delicious!

Pros the variety of food and information shared. With that said I was turned off by the heavy sell to buy a cheese pack and cheese at our first meeting place as our guide would get a commission. I also did not like at the end that Kees said it’s very expensive to live in Amsterdam anything you can give me to pay my electric bill is appreciated. I had just given him a very generous tip.

Great experience, visited tons of locally owned businesses. Very intuitive and funny guide Dennis was helpful and a joy to be around for a few hours

The tour was fantastic! Kees was our tour guide, he was amazing! Explained foods, locations and history. Tour was a great pace. Not to slow not to fast. So much food and drinks. Definitely worth the money.

This is a fabulous tour for someone who wants to try new things, see the local sights, and learn about history, but not for a foodie. I'm a foodie - I want to know "how things are made". For me, it's not about the taste but the process. Are the same cultures used for goat and cow milk to make Gouda? How are the sausages cooked (boiled, smoked, cured)? Our guide said we could ask those questions to the shop owners, so it was a bit disappointing. I would have liked the order of visits to go from savory to sweet, but there were a lot of sweet things to taste. I'm more of a savory eater, but it's just a regionally sweet district. Dennis is a career hospitality entrepreneur, but he's not a foodie. He was also distracted by his phone for part of the tour. It was hard to tell if it was business or personal. I've done several food tours in different cities, and this was not my favorite. And weirdly, he gave me a big hug at the end. I wondered if he sensed I was disappointed and wanted to be extra warm, but it didn't change my opinion. My favorite dish was the shashimi with onion.

Dennis gave us an amazing tour, food was delicious and every stop was peppered with a bit of Amsterdam history! Come hungry… I’m so full, I have to unbuckle my belt 😂
- Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
- Service animals allowed
- Public transportation options are available nearby
- Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
- Suitable for all physical fitness levels
- Every tour is unique, but you might enjoy freshly baked stroopwafels from a 200-year-old bakery, artisanal Gouda paired with local liquor in a historic merchant house cellar, hand-cut Dutch fries with creamy mayo or satay sauce, colonial Indonesian treats or Surinamese street snacks, famous Dutch chocolates, zesty herring with onions (before 16:00), and a toast with traditional jenever or European wines. Our guides curate tastings based on their personal favorites — so no two tours are ever the same.
- Kids friendly: You may bring a stroller, but we sometimes will need to park it outside for a brief moment.
- We offer vegetarian and pescetarian alternatives, ensuring everyone's dietary needs are met. Gluten-free options are not always possible, but available at most stops for tours starting 16:00 or earlier. To accommodate special requirements, inform us at booking and remind your guide at the start of the tour.
- Most guides also have paypal / venmo for a digital tip.
- Tour starts inside Gastrovino cheese shop in the wine basement.
- Herring available until 16:00 start time due to opening times.
- Easy to reach: 8 min walk from Dam Square, 5 min from Rokin Metro. Uber/taxi drop-off close to entrance. No hotel pickup included.
- We’re a small local company and take great pride in what we do — but we’re not perfect. If something didn’t meet your expectations, please contact us within 24 hours so we can make it right. Before posting a negative review, give us a chance to help. We truly care.
- Private Amsterdam Food Tour Option: Includes hotel/ship pickup, custom food route (Jordaan, Nine Streets, Red Light District), flexible start time, private guide, mobility options, and full dietary customization — ideal for gluten-free, vegetarian & pescatarian travelers.
- Walking food tour: This tour covers approximately 1.5 miles (2.5 km) on foot with at least 5 tasting stops along the way. Not all stops have seating available, so guests ideally should be comfortable walking and standing. Also eateries might have steps and small stairs. Mobility challenges? For a shorter route a private tour is recommended (please inform us! ).
- Allergies: Most stops offer excellent vegetarian and pescatarian options. Gluten-free is possible at ~70% of stops before 16:00 — for a fully gluten-free Amsterdam food tour, the private option is best so we can design every stop around you. Peanut, shellfish, and nut allergies are usually not a problem, but please tell us so we can confirm with venues (e.g., ask to skip pesto). Share any allergies in the special wishes section when booking, and kindly remind your guide at the start of the tour. While most venues are accommodating, cross-contamination is possible in shared kitchens.
